It can be difficult keeping track of all the things you have to do throughout the week. Fight forgetfulness and keep your plans by setting a reminder in your phone to notify you when it's time to go! Setting a reminder for work, a birthday party, or for a special event you're expected to attend can save you from running late or missing out entirely.
1 Bring your phone out of standby mode and navigate to the home screen. Your home screen is the default location for many of the pre-installed apps on your Android device. Here you will likely find your default clock app, usually shaped like a circular wall clock.
If you cannot find your default clock app on your home screen, open your app drawer by pressing the icon represented by six dots arranged horizontally in two groups of three. This icon can be found toward the bottom of your screen with other quick access apps, like your contacts and text messenger. This should populate a list of apps where you can find your clock app.
2 Access the clock app and add an alarm. Open your clock by tapping it. The following screen should have tabs for alarms, a timer, a world clock, and a stopwatch. Select the "Alarms" tab and press the plus symbol in the upper right-hand corner of your screen to add an alarm. 3 Enter your alarm information. Now you should see a list of adjustable options that you can use to set your reminder. Input the time and day you wish your reminder to alert you. Write a short description of the event in the "Memo" field toward the bottom of the "Set Alarm" menu so you don't forget the purpose of your reminder. When you have finished inputting your alarm information, select the "Save" option from the bottom of the "Set alarm" menu.
If you would like your reminder to alert you daily, or even weekly on the same day(s), be sure to select the "Repeat" option.
You can also set your alarm tone/music in the "Set alarm" menu. Scroll down until you see the option "Alarm sound." Tap that and choose "Music" from the "Alarm sound" submenu.
4 Check that your alarm is set. It is easy to hit the wrong button and cancel the reminder you meant to set, so after saving your alarm, return to the alarm tab. Under this tab you should find your new alarm, oftentimes with a colored clock icon to the right of it indicating a set alarm.
Though there might be variations according to the model of your device and the clock app your device utilizes, but generally, when the clock icon is filled, the alarm is active. Unfilled white alarm icons typically mean the alarm is deactivated.
1 Activate your phone and open your home screen. Most Android devices come with a simple calendar app pre-installed, and you can navigate to this by swiping to the right or left from your home screen until you arrive at your calendar.
In the event that you can't find your calendar app, you may have to open your app drawer, represented by six dots in two groups of three and located at the bottom of your phone screen. You should find your calendar in the list of apps there.
If you cannot find a calendar app, your device may not have come with it pre-installed. In this case, you will need to download a calendar from the Play store.
2 Add an event to your calendar. On your calendar screen, you should see a list of dates arranged much like a normal calendar, but in the upper right-hand corner of your calendar you should see a plus sign. Tap this to add an event. 3 Set your reminder. In the "New Event" menu you will find fields where you can input the name of your event, the location, the date you want the reminder set for, and the time you wish the reminder to go off. After you have finished inputting your event information, select "Save."
For long or involved events, you may want to check the box labeled "All day," as this will indicate on your calendar that your event is occurring throughout the entire day.
4 Return to your calendar screen to check your event. It will defeat the purpose of your reminder if you accidentally set the wrong time or date. Many calendar apps utilize sliders or roller-based inputs to set the date and time of your event, and it is easy to swipe a little farther than you intended when using these.
